11 million tons of plastic enter our oceans every year, killing hundreds of millions of marine animals. Helen of the Sea protects marine ecosystems by removing plastic from the Galapagos Islands and transforming it into snorkeling gear for marine tourism operators.

From Sea to Solution

The Regenerative Process

  • 1. Rescue

Remove harmful marine debris with the help of local fishers and volunteers.

  • 2. Process

Local community members clean and categorize materials.

  • 3. Transform

Nylon and polypropylene polymers are compounded and pelletized. We’re developing a special compounding formula that includes antimicrobial properties to reduce fugal growth extend product lifespan. Compounded pellets are heated and molded into final products.

  • 4. Regenerate

Our circular model does not end at sale. Customers will be able to return damaged gear, where it will be reintegrated into our manufacturing loop. By keeping materials in circulation, we reduce waste burdens on resource-limited islands and eliminate the need for virgin materials.
